The Association was organized in 1932 as “The South Louisiana Landman & Oil Scouts Association”. In 1964 the name was changed to “The South Louisiana Oil Scouts Association”, as we are known today.
The association covers the lower 40 parishes of Louisiana. We have a formal meeting every week giving a weekly drilling report on all wells within our area. This includes all wildcats, field wells, sidetracks, etc… We follow a well from the date it was permitted to the date it was completed. Also included is a weekly 3D Seismic Report, Monthly State Lease Sale Report, Quarterly Industry Report and Weekly Conservation Office coverage for both Lafayette and Baton Rouge.
SLOSA also publishes a 3-D seismic map considered to be the 3-D map of the industry. The map has coverage on all 538 surveys shot in South Louisiana from the first shot in 1987 to date. Each survey is outlined and color-coded by year. The map is updated every 6 months.
